The old-fashioned Christmas lilies - Lilium Longiflorum - are such a timeless symbol of Christmas. The white purity of their perfect trumpet blooms is dazzling in the morning sun.
The lilies pictured are just outside the lounge area of our Chapel, where they are making a beautiful pre-Christmas display.
Many people have memories of these lilies, connecting them to earlier times. Indeed, my late mother used to say how she remembered them at her childhood home in Williamstown (South Australia) where there was an avenue of Christmas lilies lining a long path from the house to the roadside.
Now that they're blooming here, they form part of my own Christmas memories, and I treasure their contribution to the festive season.
